Planned Giving
The IFMA Foundation was established in 1990 as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation and is a separate entity from IFMA. The Foundation works for the public good to promote educational opportunities and research for the advancement of facility management. The IFMA Foundation is supported by the generosity of the FM community including IFMA members, chapters, councils, corporate sponsors and private contributors who share the belief that education and research improve the FM profession.
To continue these efforts, the IFMA Foundation needs your support. In order to provide a diverse selection of giving opportunities, the Foundation is now offering Planned Giving as an additional option.
What is Planned Giving?
- The integration of personal, financial and estate planning goals to benefit a charity
- An opportunity for charitable giving in circumstances that may not otherwise allow a donor to make a gift to charity. They also provide tax/estate benefits.
Planned giving options
Bequest - A bequest is the simplest type of planned giving gift to make and one of the easiest to implement. A bequest is simply a gift to charity at death. There are multiple variations to bequests and our staff will work with you to develop the best solution for your needs.
Gift Annuities - A gift annuity is an agreement where a donor makes a gift of cash or property and the charity agrees to make fixed payments to the donor for life.
Charitable Remainder Trust - A charitable remainder trust (CRT) receives appreciated property from a donor, the charity sells the property tax free and makes payments for a life/lifetimes or term of years and then distributes the remainder to the charity.
Charitable Lead Trust - A charitable lead trust (CLT) receives cash or property from a donor and makes payments to the charity for a specified period. At the end of the period, it distributes the trust property to a specified beneficiary, usually family.
