CxGBS and the IFMA Foundation Offer Free How-to Guide on
Sustainability Practices and Commissioning of Existing Buildings

Duluth, Georgia – June 10, 2011 – The Green building experts at Commissioning & Green Building Solutions, Inc. (CxGBS®) have teamed up with the IFMA Foundation to release Commissioning Existing Buildings,a free how-to manual for introducing and advancing sustainable practices within existing buildings.

Commissioning Existing Buildings is the latest in the Sustainability “How-to” Guide Series distributed by the IFMA Foundation. The guide provides practical, real-world guidance – backed by quantifiable research – for building owners and facility managers on how to introduce and advance sustainable practices within existing structures.
Commissioning Existing Buildings covers:

  • The Purpose of Commissioning an Existing Building
  • The Process for Commissioning Existing Buildings from Start to Finish
  • Budget Guidelines for Time, Money and Resources
  • Real-World Case Studies

“Today’s building owners and facility managers need to be able to clearly communicate the benefits and positive economic impact of sustainability and energy-efficient practices, not only to the public, but also to the C-suite,” explained Jay Enck, principal, CxGBS and author of Commissioning Existing Buildings. “While there is a dramatic need for each of us – and our organizations – to care for the environment, it is just as important that we convey to executives how these initiatives can benefit our company’s financial success.”

“Facility managers and owners have the difficult task of keeping their occupants content,” said Eric Teicholz, chair of IFMA’s Sustainability Committee. “This guide goes a long way toward helping them better understand the important role retro-commissioning is starting to play in the upkeep of quality properties.”
